I pity the poor guy
he wanted love - but why
instead of rolling over
he died in tar not clover
the lady killed the spy
soon after did she cry
a lover who lies still
cannot fulfill her will
because she was in need
regrets she had indeed!

I would have preferred to die in clover, but the
plots of operas insist on sinister endings,
by the way, I hear her singing this beautiful
