Xing The Bar...on Tennyson's Tracks

When the golden sun meets evening's tender gaze,
And whispers soft farewell to fading light,
A lone voice calls, a beckon through the haze,
Guiding me where the tranquil waters bide.

Oh, let no mournful cry disturb the peace,
As I embark upon the tranquil sea,
Where gentle tides in slumber find release,
And carry me towards eternity.

At twilight's hour, when tolls the vesper bell,
And darkness veils the world in its dark cloak,
Bid not sorrow within my heart to dwell,
As I depart from time and mortal yoke.

For though the currents may lead me afar,
I trust to meet my Pilot 'cross the bar.

Based on and inspired by Lord Alfred Tennyson's Poem: Crossing The Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
