Have you ever seen the full moon?

The full moon

that you do not see
when it shines in the deep night
through clouds and fir trees

or rises mightily
at the end of the country road
while you drive carelessly towards it

it is not the same moon
that you admired so much
on vacation in Rhodes

when it cast its tail of light
far out to sea
to the sound of the waves

Den Vollmond

den Du nicht siehst
wenn er in tiefer Nacht
durch Wolken und Tannen scheint

oder sich mächtig erhebt
am Ende der Landstraße
während Du ihm achtlos entgegen fährst

ist es nicht derselbe Mond
den Du so sehr bewundert hast
im Urlaub auf Rhodos

als er seinen Lichtschweif
weit auf das Meer warf
beim Rauschen der Wellen
