WHO DECIDES WHO LIVES OR DIES?

We don’t treat creatures equally

I’m not sure that we could,

we need Worms in the garden

but not the Worms in wood.

We’ll gladly find some tit bits

to feed to next doors Cat,

but phone the pest controller

at the first hint of a Rat.

We welcome Bees and Lady Birds

to pollinate and eat bugs,

but try to kill and rid ourselves

of our Snails and our Slugs.

We’ll gladly swat the Wasp and Fly

as they buzz around the house,

or go and buy ourselves a trap

to kill the lowly Mouse.

We’ll spray and kill the Green fly

as they make home on our plant,

we’ll buy and sprinkle powder

to obliterate the Ant.

No other creatures do this

It’s just a trait of man,

and the reason that we do it?

It’s just because we can.

I've seen many signs in car windows that say,
A Dog is for life, not just for Christmas.

Perhaps there ought to be another sign that reads,
A Turkeys just for Christmas, not for life.
