Rafael De Dios García

Shipwrecked

My ship set sail shedding tears
and was lost to the sea of your absence.
When the wind blew, it was your mouth.
When the night was gloomy and lugubrious,
your eyes came to enlighten my way.
And you welcome me, fire of flares,
in the sweet dwelling of your arms.
I was about to remain plunged
in the indelible cold of tragedy.
Without you, the sea looked sinister:
always rough and I was blinded by mists.
Without you, my ship had no harbor.
I felt shipwrecked without your body.
Staying with you, even on land,
is my wish;
running aground
in the fissures of your smooth rocks.

Your warmth makes me come alive.
If I sail again, it will be with you:
let the lighthouse of your eyes enlighten me,
may you guide me in the day's run.
