Consolation
 
 
With silver light the moon appears
in the ink coloured evening sky.
  Its shine calms down all human fears
and wakes a hope, timid and shy.
 
 
I see the waters of the pond
streaming in softer sheen
as if they to the light respond
between their meadows green.
 
 
I see the shifting of a cloud -
it sails across the friendly face
in colours of a rainbow proud
before it disappears to space.
 
 
And where the moonlight doesn’t reach
heaven’s dark tinted lawn
I see the stars twinkling to each
who cannot fall asleep till dawn.
 
 
Be you my guide, dear silver moon,
all lonely hours through.
My yearning will be soothed soon
when I look up to you.
