The best I knew

 
I’ve been walking in the rain for days
Sleeping under bridges all those nights
I’ve been stumbling through the desert sands
And‘ve gone through one too many fights.
 
In my time on earth I’ve seen too many dying
And I’m wondering why I’m still trying
Not to give up the fight,
not to lose this fight.
 
I’ve been walking in the shadows of the night
Spending my days on dreaming the dream
Of the awesome independent freedom flight
Never mind how far away it may seem.
 
Through my living years I’ve seen so many trying
and I’m wondering why they’re dying.
Don’t give up that fight!
Don’t lose that fight!
 
They regain their strength out of the blue and you’ll never know why!
They thrive and struggle and fight the reaper to go by.
Some win, some lose and all the best die young.
All the best I knew died young!
 
So I keep walking in the rain for days
Keep sleeping under bridges further nights
Keep stumbling through the desert sands
And go through many more of those fights!
 
In my coming days of old I will be watching
And they’ll wonder why I’m laughing
at their useless attempts to fight
useless attempts in every night.
 
They regain their strength out of the blue and you’ll never know why!
